Patient Financial Services

About Us

As a not-for-profit organization, St. Luke's maintains an "open door" policy. This means that we will provide medically necessary care to any person.  Furthermore, St. Luke’s does not charge for its health care services based on a patient’s ability to pay.  One charge is established for every service the hospital provides.

The goal of St. Luke's Patient Financial Services is to ensure that services provided are properly paid for by the patient, another individual such as a parent or guardian, or a third party payor (insurance company). St. Luke's ability to provide quality staff, equipment and facilities is dependent upon this reimbursement, as no other major resources exist to provide for the continuation of the medical center's mission. Our goal is to make certain that services are properly billed and paid for by the appropriate third party payors, government agencies and our patients.

Billing Information

If you have given us insurance information, we will submit a claim on your behalf.   St. Luke’s is required to file a separate claim to your insurance for each inpatient or outpatient visit; therefore you will receive a separate bill/account number for each visit/date of service.

Radiologists, pathologists, anesthesiologists and consulting physicians will bill you and/or your insurance company separately for their services.  These consulting physicians are not hospital employees; therefore they may not be participating members of your specific insurance plan.  If you have any questions regarding your insurance coverage and/or bills from these providers, please contact them directly.

If you do not have insurance, you will receive a bill shortly after services are provided. Please remit payment in full at that time.  If you are unable to pay the balance in full, refer to the “Paying Your Bill” section for other options.
