St. Luke’s Heart and West Valley Medical Center have formed a new collaboration, “Collaborative Cardiovascular Care,” to enhance heart and vascular services closer to home for people in Canyon County and the surrounding area. This collaboration will provide local access to frequently needed outpatient services and rapid intervention and treatment for emergency conditions.
- St. Luke’s cardiologists are on call 24/7 at West Valley’s Emergency Department to work with board certified emergency physicians in providing cardiovascular care and support, including early detection and rapid treatment of heart attack and other cardiac emergencies. Patients who require a higher level of care receive rapid transport to the appropriate medical center.
- Peripheral vascular diagnostic and interventional procedures will soon be available at West Valley, including angiograms to detect blockages in patients’ peripheral arteries and treatments for these blockages.
- The collaboration will also allow for the insertion of internal cardiac defibrillators (ICDs) at West Valley Medical Center. ICDs use electric shock to treat patients with symptomatic or lethal arrhythmias.
- West Valley and St. Luke’s are working together to develop a future certified Chest Pain Center, modeled on those at St. Luke’s Boise and Meridian.
