The Luke Award 2011
The 11th Annual Luke Award is proud to recognize Susie Molenaar Butterfield and Idaho Credit Union League for their dedication to the kids at St. Luke’s.
The Luke Award, presented by St. Luke’s Health Foundation Children's Advisory Board, recognizes individuals and businesses or organizations that have demonstrated extraordinary commitment to fundraising efforts for the Children's Hospital.
Every year, hundreds of volunteers and businesses support five special events to raise funds and awareness for St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital. Thousands of hours given by these individuals and organizations have helped ensure that the children of our region have the depth of pediatric medical services only available at a children’s hospital.
Luke is…the essence that resides in every child receiving care at St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital. From a teenage boy with cancer to a little girl injured on the playground, Luke is the strength children pull from to battle illness and mend wounds. Luke helps our critically ill young patients to smile, and gives them the courage to face life at its most difficult. And Luke is, above all, the compassionate spirit of everyone who has helped the young patients at St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital.
Susie Molenaar Butterfield
Individual Recipient
Susie Molenaar Butterfield is a dedicated, long-time, devoted
volunteer for St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital.
A founding member of St. Luke’s Children’s Advisory Board in 1995, Susie has given her time, talents, and enthusiasm to helping hospitalized kids. She served as board chair from 2000-2002, has been a Kid For A Night ambassador at both the Western and Birthday events, answers phones and take pledges for many years during the annual Children’s Miracle Network Telethon, and orchestrates fundraisers at her business, Molenaar Jewelers.
Susie is a civic leader dedicated to family, philanthropy, and community. An advocate for children and health care, she has been a role model and friend to many. Her commitment is inspiring; she truly cares about the children and families she touches.
Idaho Credit Union League
Organization Recipient
The Idaho Credit Union Leagues “Credit Unions for Kids” program
is committed to helping St. Luke’s kids at every opportunity.
Partnering with St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital and the Children’s
Miracle Network since 1996, the Idaho Credit Union League and its
employees have been a tireless force in the effort to raise money and
awareness for the young patients at St. Luke’s. They are driven to
make a difference, whenever and however they can.
In addition to volunteering annually for the Children’s Miracle Network Telethon and Radiothon, the Idaho Credit Union League’s employees also orchestrate their own special fundraising events, which include bake sales, yard sales, candy bouquets, holiday skipa- payment, golf tournaments, and much, much more, all with one vital goal in mind—helping kids.
