Pediatric Emergency Department

St. Luke's Children's Hospital is home to the state's only Pediatric Emergency Department. Designed for the rapid diagnosis and treatment of children, the Pediatric Emergency Department is tucked away from the hustle and bustle of adult and critical care rooms. Specially trained providers care for children in a unit that features colorful murals on the floors and walls, cheerful décor, and equipment and beds designed just for pediatric patients.

A separate waiting room with a play area for young children has a supply of books, toys, and games to keep siblings happy while their brother or sister is being treated. Bedside registration is the rule, which means very little time in the waiting room for patients; and two X-ray rooms located in the department assist with quick diagnosis and treatment. Our board certified pediatric emergency medicine physician works with our highly trained Emergency Department staff to ensure excellent pediatric care for young patients and their families, treating a wide range of emergency conditions, from lacerations and broken bones to traumatic injuries and acute illnesses.

The Pediatric Emergency Department is located at St. Luke's Children's Hospital, within St. Luke's Boise Medical Center. It is open from 4 p.m. to midnight, seven days a week. When the Pediatric Emergency Department is closed, children receive expert, specialized care in our general Emergency Department.
