St. Luke's Children's Hospital
As Idaho's Children's Hospital, St. Luke's stands alone as the state's most experienced and dedicated hospital for children.
St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital at our Boise facility is a hospital within a hospital—with a professional staff and services to care for the special needs of children. Our unique services include a 24-hour emergency center designed and staffed just for kids, intensive care units for newborns and children, child life specialists to help young patients adjust to the hospital and an outpatient specialty center to provide multidisciplinary services to children with special needs.
St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital has brought together more than 50 pediatric subspecialists, including specialties that range from neurology to surgery and oncology/hematology. St. Luke’s Children’s Specialty Center, an outpatient clinical area where many of the pediatric subspecialists on St. Luke’s medical staff practice in close proximity, allows enhanced communication and ease of access for families.
St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital has Idaho’s largest and most experienced Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and the state’s only Pediatric Intensive Care Unit—and our downtown Boise medical center is home to Idaho’s largest dedicated Pediatrics Unit.
What is a Children’s Hospital?
According to the National Association of
Children’s Hospitals and Related Institutions (NACHRI):
Children's hospitals are well known as centers of excellence
in pediatric care. Within their walls and outpatient
clinics reside the world's finest practitioners of medicine,
nursing, therapy and social work, who are devoted to
children with the most challenging needs.
Children's hospitals are expert in the most basic health care needs of all children. Because they are on the front lines of medical care, education and research, they serve the majority of the nation's children with special needs. In most states, they serve a disproportionate share of children who are uninsured and those who rely on the Medicaid program to pay for their health care.
